My Project

We have never had the opportunity to purchase new classroom furniture (round table, rectangle table, stacking stools, flex-space washable comfy floor seats). I go to thrift stores and tag sales to find possibilities for my students. Then I take them home for repairs, painting, and repurposing them for my students. I believe they deserve a calm, comfortable, and student-centered classroom. I refuse to use desks and chairs. Students are free to choose their space. We have traded in our fluorescent lighting for soft accent lights. There are nooks and crannies where kids can get lost in themselves. Do their best work. Be the best version of themselves. That is how I get them to give me their all. My students appreciate the effort to make the classroom their space. A haven. A place where they feel valued. A place to work and socialize in a safe domain. Their domain. It is not my room, it is our room.
