This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Thanks for reading my proposal!! I am teacher on the southside of Chicago. My school has very limited resources. I was informed that my students would not be able to have new textbooks in the fall. My current textbook has a copyright of 1988. This is a problem when you teach Modern American History. I am requesting a class set of history texts to use within my classroom. My students would greatly benefit from having a current U.S. history text that would have recent historical events such as 9/11 and the war with Iraq. Having updated textbooks would also motivate my students to read daily. My current old set (1988) is very worn. Many students have commented that working in such old texts shows that society does not care about their education. Please help me prove my students wrong! Thank you!!
