This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students made the choice to come to an art and design school to get more exposure to different types of art. We're going into this year with a brand new curriculum focused on different types of media. For the first time, my students have the opportunity to take multiple levels of photography classes, and they're so excited about it!
My students are wonderful and sassy, completely in love with any type of artwork that expresses their own personal voice and experiences.
My Project
Photographers are visual people by nature and yes, textbooks seem to be going out of style for most schools. That said, I recently found a text that I think will really benefit my students called Exposures: An Infographic Guide To Photography. It contains so much information about all of the small details that make people into great photographers. It's well designed and well informed.
Having regular access to physical books helps students become better scholars.
It would be great for my students to have regular access to this photography textbook. Making copies is not the same. There is something to be said for having physical books in your hands. I'm asking for a classroom set so that my students can check out their book in class and use the text to inform their education!
