This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Whenever we have student performances, one of my favorite jobs to give students is the opportunity to make a short spoken introduction to the audience or to introduce the musical selections. Even though it can be scary and stressful, it is a skill that we all need to develop.

Some students discover that they enjoy public speaking once given a chance to do it.

It is amazing to see them grow and become more confident after being given this chance to do this job. Sometimes the shyest students want to give it a try, while the students who love to talk get scared.

This project will allow my students to have a new wireless mic for our middle school music program. Right now, the only mics that we have easy access to are hard-wired, making it very difficult to get the mics far enough from the soundboard for students to easily use them during a performance. Having a wireless microphone will make speaking and performing a more effortless and easy experience for my students.

The students at my school are very hardworking and deserve only the best. Getting this new microphone will be a big step towards improving the quality of both our music program and the quality of their performances.
