This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of our students in grade 3 are struggling readers. In order to get better at reading they need to have the opportunity to practice as much as possible during tech time. During tech time the 3rd grade students use technology to do programs such as Raz-kids that help improve reading skills. One great component of some of the programs we use during tech time is the ability for students to read and record themselves practicing reading a book. The problem is that in order for students to read and record themselves they need headsets with microphones which we do not have for all the kids.
Having headsets with microphones will allow 3rd grade students to practice their reading on a daily basis by recording themselves read and then listen to their own recordings.
It is a great way to keep track of their reading progress and a great motivational tool for them to practice reading.
