Every morning we excitedly chant our school name and mascot with pride. Our students love learning and can't wait to come in the classroom.
My classroom is in a large metropolitan city in Northern California.
My second grade classroom is composed of 22 multicultural students of lower economic means. The majority of students are qualified for free lunch programs. They take great pride in the few belongings they have and are often expected to make them last for many years. Our school doesn't receive funding for the necessary basic classroom needs. We need your help.
My Project
My students are learning to prepare themselves to do their schoolwork by having the needed supplies ready before they begin an assignment or test. One of their most important tools is their pencil. We do our best to keep a supply of sharpened pencils ready at all times so students can take one before they begin their work. To do this requires constant sharpening of used pencils. A new pencil sharpener would enable us to keep a supply available to our students throughout the school day.
When doing certain types of schoolwork, especially tests, students need to be focused on their work.
It is a challenge in the younger grades for students to stay on task and not be distracted by students who are sitting next to them as well as other activities in the classroom. Privacy dividers are essential in helping students remain focused on their work, enabling them to do their best work in a timely manner.
