Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students need basic supplies to complete STEAM assignments. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. My school is a growing, bilingual, elementary school located in Southeast, Washington, DC. It's home to close to six hundred students. Each and every student inspire me daily.

Our free lunch population is near one hundred percent.

In spite of many challenges, our students come to school ready to read, draw, write , think critically and ready to discover (science and technology). We encourage our students to look beyond challenges and thrive.

My Project

Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations or algorithms: it is about understanding. –William Paul Thurston. Mathematics is a subject that all students will need in order to function in this world successfully. Critical Thinking is a skilled that is developed and perfected in our mathematics classes. Additionally, technology is needed to test our students with their critical thinking skills

My goal is to help each and every elementary student succeed in mathematics and compete with other students on an international level.

I am trying to provide technology in order to make mathematics fun, exciting and challenging. Students will be able to express their critical thinking by journaling on the laptop. They will also use the calculators to check their answers.
