Help me give my students a Remo tubano drum to use in music class!
This project expired on April 17, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common - they all attend an urban, public Montessori school. Eighty-one percent of the students qualify for free lunch and 88% of the students are a racial minority.
We follow the teachings of Maria Montessori to meet the needs of the whole child - physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually through following and allowing the child to guide his or her learning.
I am fortunate to be in a school that sees music as an integral part of the child's development and encourages musical growth and expression.
We are slowly but surely building up a, so to speak, instrument library in the music classroom! My students have really taken to learning and creating accompaniments to the songs and activities we learn in music class.
In order to keep as many students as possible engaged in learning, we need more instruments!
This drum will help bring us closer to creating a complete set of instruments for my students. We love tubano drums because they are easy to transport and play. Students can sit on stools and be the exact right height to play the drum while creating a good sound.
Please help us get more drums for our classroom by supporting this project!
