Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a third grade, Dual Language class. My partner teacher and I have forty-two students in total. Half the time they are learning English and half the time they are learning Spanish. It is a very unique and exciting program.
Some of my students come to school knowing no English.
They have moved here from different countries knowing only how to speak Spanish. This program gives them a great opportunity to learn English as well as learn more in their native language. I also have students learning Spanish as a second language. We have great students who all love to learn and are very supportive of each other. They have been in the same classes since first grade.
My students are hard workers and love to learn. They have to remember two sets of books, papers and expectations. They are a fantastic bunch!
My Project
My students need lots of different materials to help us start off to a great school year. We do so many hands on activities and projects that we go through all different types of paper so fast. We need different types of card stock and construction paper to make all these projects bright and fun. Students also love printing out their writing workshop pieces on astrobright paper. All this paper makes our classroom bright and exciting.
My students also love to play all different types of educational "games." Having sheet protectors will make sure these games get to be used over and over again.
My students need lamps for our cozy reading corner. My students love sitting on our special couches and chairs to read and having lamps will add to our special reading nook!
Since I teach Dual Language, I have two classes and everything needs to be labeled. I need lots of address labels in order to label all their supplies! My students and I would really appreciate all the new supplies we get!
