Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Pictures, websites, and movies, oh my! An LCD projector in our first grade classroom would enable me to engage my students in a new way and develop a deeper understanding of the concepts we are learning.
I have a class of 23 amazing, eager-to-learn students that come to school every day with excitement!
They are passionate about school and work hard to do their best. The majority of my students is English Language Learners and live close to our Title I school. Our school is in a low socio-economic area in a wonderfully diverse community here in CA. Unfortunately, being in this situation, my students rarely get to see many events or visit academically rich places that would aid in their growth as learners. My students do not have a lot, but accomplish feats daily. They are amazing and I feel blessed to be their teacher.
My Project
Since most of my students are English Language Learners, they need to develop their learning and language through more than just printed pictures and my voice to guide them. Being in a very low income area, these children do not receive the same exposure as those in communities with more money. I need to be able to build their vocabulary in alternative ways. With your fantastic donation, my students will be able to interact with new words and concepts through new visual and auditory ways. With these new vocabulary skills, my students will continue to improve in their reading ability and the way they are able to relate to text and to the world at large.
With your donation, I will be able to bring new engaging ways of learning about the concepts in math, literacy, science, and social studies.
These skills will add to their excitement in learning and help them understand their world better. You are enabling us to become not only better learners, but more engaged world citizens. Thank you for thinking of us and supporting their future!
