This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach middle and high school band in a high-needs community. The school district is very small and in an urban setting. Our students all receive free lunch and breakfast. Even though the school and community have financial difficulties, my students come to school eager and ready to learn. The financial hardships do not interfere with their desire to learn and be the best they can be.
I am very fortunate to teach in a district where the students want to excel and work very hard.
My Project
Band class is in full swing this year. Our band has many new students learning to play an instrument. This year we have a lot of students who want to learn the tenor saxophone. I am short one instrument because it is in need of repairs.
You can help put a repaired tenor saxophone in the hands of my students.
The tenor saxophone I have is in need of new pads and a few adjustments. This is normal maintenance on a saxophone. Unfortunately, I don't have a budget to fix them. With your help, my students will be able to play on a saxophone that is in "tip-top" shape.
Please help my students get a working saxophone so they can make beautiful music.
