Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a very diverse background of ethnic, socio-economic, and learning abilities. Their unique styles, attitudes, and emotional development ranges keep my days interesting in more than a few ways. I love that together, even with all of our differences, that we find ways to create a positive classroom environment that is not only welcoming to all, but that can function towards common goals.
My Project
Teaching tennis is rewarding because it gives students a skill that provides a low-cost way to exercise and socialize. However; the game is not completely free and does require an investment in supplies.
Over time, tennis balls lose their ability to bounce and need to be replaced.
Having practice balls that perform as close as possible to game balls aids in the training process. New players often haven't developed control and sometimes lose balls. The practice balls also allow students to spend more time fine-tuning skills and less time waiting for their chance to get involved.
Your donation will allow for athletes to spend more time practicing serves and volleys, and spend less time waiting and gathering during valuable after-school practice times. These types of balls are designed for practice and will have greater longevity than normal game balls. Practice balls can be used in ball machines, and are good to use on all types of courts.
