My Students

It's "The Battle for Attention Hill" and I'm outnumbered 35:1 and the students have the upper hand! With the help of some heavy artillery, I can win the battle and capture the student's attention. The tablet enables me to level the playing field and engage more students in the lesson.

My students are a diverse group of tweeners currently taking a yearlong 7th grade life science class.

I currently have about 160 students. The school they attend is a public institution of thirteen hundred students located in Castro Valley, California.

My Project

It truly is a constant battle to capture a middle schooler's attention and engage them in the lesson at hand. I currently have a computer and a projector but am tethered to the front of the classroom by the position of the computer. The tablet frees me to be able to roam the room while sharing the lesson. It also enables the students to interact via the wireless tablet with the one computer.

The best laid lesson plans amount to nothing if the students are not actively engaged.

This tablet enables me to roam the classroom during the lesson and also have the students use the tablet to become an active participant in the lesson.
