My students need a refrigerator and microwave for their engineering and scientific experiments.
Students start with a problem to solve and they go through the Engineering Design process to solve the problems.
My students crave learning.
They are always asking questions, researching, and trying to find solutions to problems at hand. My students come from a wide range of economic backgrounds. They all work together for a common goal and their backgrounds add to their life experiences.
My students will use the refrigerator to create ice penguins in order to create insulated houses to keep heat transfer from occurring so they melt slower than their fellow students. They also need a place to keep their sheep brains cool as they work on them during the week. They need the microwave to heat water to test how mass relates to the slowing of body heat in death for a murder investigation. They also need to heat their gel for electrophoresis, DNA footprints.
Students will bring science and engineering together with temperature to give another range of experimentation.
The more opportunities to explore and find answer to questions while solving problems is learning.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
