Telling Our Digital Stories

My Students

My students are in grades six, seven, and eight. They are from Maine and from all over the world. Forty percent of students are from low income families and thirty-five percent of our school population are learning to speak English.

My students are creating digital content which will represent them positively in the future.

They will be learning digital media skills so that they can pursue storytelling, demonstrate their skills, and otherwise express themselves using a variety of mediums including animation, podcasting, and television!

My Project

We are hoping to partner with The Telling Room and Portland Media Center on a digital storytelling project. The Telling Room’s relationship with our school goes back a decade, and we’ve always had excellent experiences collaborating to develop personal stories from our students.

As a nonprofit whose mission is to empower youth through writing and sharing their voices with the world, The Telling Room's expertise is with getting young people engaged in storytelling and helping them think about what story they want to tell through audio or video.

Our Digital Media class is the perfect fit for this collaboration as we can take the stores we develop with the Telling Room and creatively share them with the world.
