My students need cassette players, CD players, and headphones to read along with audio stories.
What child doesn't love to hear a story? But it isn't possible to read to everyone all the time. That's why a listening station is such an important part of a first grade classroom.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and all receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
Our building is over 100 years old! We are in a city with very limited resources and it's often difficult to gather the supplies I'd like my students to have.
We need cassette players, CD players, and headphones to read along with audio stories. Currently, we do not have a working CD player or cassette player. I am lucky to have a collection of stories on CD and cassette, but have no way to share them with my students! How I wish they could hear these stories! Not only would they enjoy them, but they would improve their listening and reading skills, increase their vocabulary, and expand their horizons.
Your generosity will enable my first graders this year, and for years to come, to have the opportunity to enjoy listening to and reading along with many stories.
Please help me to help my students develop a life-long love of reading.
