My students need a CD player that works. Currently I have one CD player that is on its last legs. I love for my students to hear professionally read stories.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are curious and love to learn about science and social studies. They were affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many lost everything in their homes and their home. Some continued to live in their damaged home, while it was being fixed. So during the school day, I involve my students in activities that they may not have at home. Most students do not have computers at home. They love to learn on the computers at school, but I only have two that work well. I would love to have more technology, so I can facilitate their learning with instructional websites and interactive websites. Our school was flooded and will be torn down. We are currently housed in an old middle school. I have the home economics room, minus the stoves and fridges, but we have plenty of cupboards and 6 sinks (at adult height). We try to make it work, my students are just happy to have a classroom to come to.
My class would listen to professionally read stories on the CD player. They can follow along in a book and enjoy a story while they are at workstations. Most of my students do not have books at home. Most have never been to a bookstore or a library.
Making a story come to life, as only a professionally read book can do.
My students are not often read to in English because their family only speaks and reads Spanish at home. Books are so important in helping a student imagination come to life. Also, informational books will help the students learn about the world outside of the classroom.
