Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students I work with are those that need extra support to be successful. Having access to a safe inviting space where students can share what is troubling them, and then work through it is what I strive to provide them everyday.

Even though some of them may be going through a lot at home, they are resilient and are capable of reaching their goals.

With your help, I will continue to inspire my students to take risks, be proud of their achievements, and learn from their failures.

My Project

These materials will be used in a group setting where teens are coming together to share and learn from each other. The flexible seating allows them to feel more comfortable and relaxed in the group environment. Getting teenagers to talk in general is a task, but asking them to take a risk and reveal things they are holding inside is a challenge. By providing an alternative seating option that is different from what they are accustomed to in the school setting allows them to relax and loosen up a bit. Kids enjoy anything that is innovative and fun, which is what these chairs are.
