This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our school library has created a MakerSpace for students to create, design, and find materials and equipment to bring their ideas to life. We want to stock the MakerSpace with equipment and tools to support innovation in engineering design and the arts. The goal of our school library MakerSpace is to promote creativity, collaboration, and support for students who wish to design and build their own projects.
The MakerSpace will also offer support for students in engineering or arts programs to extend their learning and work on class projects or goals.
The Creation Station includes traditional craft materials as well as washi tape, scrapbooking and cardmaking supplies, calligraphy guides, origami supplies and instructions, and instructions for paper airplanes. A Silhouette cutting machine is used with these supplies to create professional looking greeting cards. Sketch pens are used to write precise text and designs with the Silhouette machine. Students can create their own designs and also use the machine to cut vinyl designs for t-shirts, mugs, etc.
