My students need deodorant, toothpaste, and other items to be taught about good hygiene so that they can feel good about themselves and care about there well being.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs. Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need throughout the school year but many times that is all that they can give them. Many of the families have at least four kids in the school. It is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them cannot pay their utility bills. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with budget cuts it is getting harder to provide them with tools for learning.
My Project
In the beginning of the school year I would like to present my students with a goodie bag with toothpaste, a toothbrush and deodorant.
Too often some preteens come to school with out clean hygiene because of the lack of tools and knowledge to take care of there well being.
As a result those are the students who lack self esteem or maybe are not aware of there poor hygiene because of there socio economic situation. The first week of school I will present to them the importance of brushing there teeth, showering and using deodorant. My female students will know that they can always have a supply of sanitary pads. They will also have a lesson on how to clean their clothes.
