Help me give my students 30 flash drives to improve their writing and prepare them for high school.

Imagine how you would feel if you suddenly had to move to a different country, one in which everyone speaks a language you barely know. Now imagine that you have moved there before you even learned to read or write. Many of my students are in this situation every day.
My students come to this country for a variety of reasons and from many different places, but all of them share a desire to succeed.
They struggle to understand what their teachers are saying and attempt to learn from materials written for native English speakers. They speak Arabic, Bosnian, French, Spanish, Kunama, Lao, Farsi, Nepali, Vietnamese, and Pashto (among others) fluently but cannot read the textbooks because they are written in English. As their ESOL and Sheltered ELA teacher, I do what I can to inspire them to persevere, despite the frustration of being unable to read or express themselves the way they can in their native language or languages.
Do you know where you will be in ten years? My students will be finishing college and entering the workforce. In order to prepare them for tomorrow's demands, I need to teach them how to use today's technology.
A few years ago, generous donors funded two flash drive projects and they were very successful.
My students quickly became expert users of the flash drives and were excited about writing. They even borrowed them to use in other classes. They were able to see how these technology skills will be necessary for all content areas, not just in English class. Many of my students still enter my classroom unable to save a document in Microsoft Word, let alone utilize more sophisticated technological tools. Most do not have internet access at home, or even a computer, so the only time they have access to these tools is at school. In order to help them succeed in high school, college, and beyond, I must teach them more than English skills. They need direct instruction and practice using technology.
We spend a great deal of time planning, drafting, and revising written work. We need these SanDisk flash drives so that my students can learn how to use them - saving their work and delivering it to me so I can help them edit and revise it. Having these flash drives means each student will get the hands-on time they need to become comfortable with using this tool. This project will build on the success of my previous flash drive projects and each student will not only learn how to use this important tool, but will be more motivated and excited to practice writing.
