I work at a school district that serves 90% Native American students. They are respectful, motivated, and eager to learn. Due to the rise in Covid cases within our community, our school has moved to 100% virtual learning. In our classroom, my students feel heard, respected and safe.
My Project
The iPad with a protective case that I have requested will be a much-needed resource for my students. They are technologically driven and would thrive with resources to aid with research, skill practice, and reading and math lessons. My goal is to use the iPad for our literacy centers and have student-led research projects that they can share with one another! Due to the Internet connection within our community, some of my students have no Internet at home, which is limiting their ability to practice skills at home. Whereas, most of my students have a school Chromebook without the full capabilities to utilize different resources such as drawing skills without URL/Internet. Example: Suppose I have one or two students who need practice with addition. I can have them using an addition app while I work with other students. Or I can have a few advanced readers work with an app that challenges them. The possibilities are endless.
