When given the right tools and encouragement, my students are writers, engineers, artists, and engaged citizens. "You can have all the tools in the world, but if you don't genuinely believe in yourself, it's useless." Ken Jeong. My students have the self-confidence, now they need the technology.
We love to explore, and we use every moment during our day to learn.
Demographically, 98% of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. 96% of the students are people of color. We are working hard to ensure that we are college and career ready. We understand that being college and career ready means that we are using technology to innovate, create and reflect. Access to resources continues to be the biggest challenge we face. When given the right tools and technology, our students can show the world their amazing capabilities and their passion for learning.
My Project
My students need 2 Chromebooks with protection plans to help them become college and career ready, in a world where access to technology is key to success. With access to Kidblog and Google Drive on these Chromebooks, as well as engineering programs such as Scratch, technology will truly become an everyday tool. Google docs will allow them to word process across the curriculum, writing short stories, creating math story problems, as well as writing narrative and informational reports. Consistent access to Kidblog will allow students to express themselves in writing across all of our learning day. Engineering and coding programs will become a part of our everyday routine. Constant access to the correct tools will make all the difference in the world not only in the end product, but in how students see their futures.
Students will have daily access to high-quality technology that allows them to process, explore, and create in different ways.
Access to computers is key in a technology savvy world. Students will have the tools they need to be ready for further education as well as the work force. In addition, students' computer skills will improve dramatically with constant access to high-quality functioning technology. The sky is the limit!
