This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 24 super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
Most of my students do not have computers at home. When they get computer time at school, they are eager to get started. Unfortunately, our classroom computers are outdated and very slow. The students use most of their computer time trying to stay online and complete their assignments.
We have awesome computer programs that reinforce reading, grammar, writing, math, science, and social studies skills; however my first graders cannot finish a lesson because our computers are too slow.
They get very frustrated and some students don’t even want their computer time now.
We are asking for an all-in-one desktop computer. We were fortunate enough to have a laptop donated last month, and my students absolutely love it. However, it’s hard to assign 24 students time on one computer. Please consider a donation to our project. Thank you!
