Ms. Ferguson from Atlanta GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an iPad in the room for extended exposure.

Computer time is totally sacred in my classroom. My students obsess about the interactive technology becuase the majority of them do not have access to computers or the internet at home. We only have 3 desktop computers in the classroom and no interactive tablets.
My students are active, inquisitive and amazing!
Every one of them knows exactly what they want to grow up to be and we constantly talk about how to reach their goals. Our school is a small neighborhood school and so in my classroom we stress the importance of family. My students are wealthy in personality, ambition and love but as a result of their environment they are missing essential materials that are so important for their education. Most of them aren't able to afford folder, paper, crayons or markers and at the start of the school year most had never touched a computer. An iPad would be a wonderful opportunity for them to get experience with interactive technology!
I picture my center activities WITHOUT two students cramped at a desktop computer while sharing a pair of headphones. With an iPad I would have enough technology to allow each member of our 4 person small groups to interact with technology every day! With a structured rotation, each student will get experience with the iPad, and they'll be able to choose activities to help with areas they need individually. An iPad will allow my students to interact with technology in a more modern way than simply a mouse and keyboard.
Everyday my students work extremely hard to overcome the setbacks they are faced with because of their environment.
At 5 years old, there is a great deal they can't understand about why they don't have the same resources as students at nearby schools. Securing an iPad will prepare my students for the technology age and most importantly they'll find another way to love learning!
