My students need one Microsoft Surface Pro 2, Surface Pro Keyboard and cover.
This project expired on May 15, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Imagine the inability to communicate your thoughts clearly, or the inability to read, or make meaningful relationships. My students struggle with many of these components of life that we take for granted. The use of technology bridges the gap and levels the playing field.
I have been given the gift of working with a unique population of students that receive Special Education services for a variety of disabilities (Processing disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism.
All of these students, no matter what their academic abilities, are mainstreamed into all core classes. My job is to differentiate the instruction being taught by the General Education teachers to insure each child's individual academic and social needs are met. Technology, specifically educational apps, will allow the students to successfully work in the General Education setting.
My Special Education students will use the Microsoft Surface Pro laptop for a variety of reading, writing and learning activities. Special apps (Dragon Speak, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) will provide access to textbook texts and read-alouds. Students will use the keyboard to type class notes and develop their reading and writing skills. The laptop will be used by individual students and for small group instruction. Also, the Surface Pro 2 will allow me to easily video stream in my lessons. In addition, the laptop will serve as a link to the students' own tablets, laptops and smartphones, extending it's usage and power.
This requested Microsoft Surface Pro 2 laptop will allow me to interface with a variety of students and their different tablets, laptops, phones, etc.
Learning these technology and literacy skills in high school will prepare my students for college. Thank you for supporting this important project.
