My students need technology in the classroom, providing immediate access for research and various projects.

My students are bright, energetic and fervent readers. Reading is encouraged and supported daily in my class and my students love that quiet time to delve into a book of their choice. We enjoy time to express our thoughts in deep discussion of our reading, share connections and simply explore the many different avenues reading and of course writing takes us to.
Students entering middle school bring a new set of nerves, apprehension and vibrancy to learning and teaching.
Each year I am eager and excited to welcome a new group of learners to middle school language arts and propel them to the next level. They are often inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. They come from many different cultures, and backgrounds and bring with them a variety of levels of learning. So I look forward to fueling and challenging those characteristics. And what characters they are! Shy ones, outgoing, funny, silly, serious, inspirational, political, social advocates and so much more! It's a melting pot of spices, aromas and flavors that brew into one great big delectable dish. My students never cease to amaze me in what they accomplish.
We all know how important technology is to our future. When used correctly, technology has the ability to engage, excite and transform student learning. These computers will continue to enhance the technology in the classroom that I strive to create. My goal is to one day have enough Chromebooks for every student in my class so students can work on both individual or group assignments which include research, project based learning, remedial and enrichment programs . The following statement is from one of my former students as he so eloquently expressed the need for additional technology in the classroom.
"Technology is the pathway to knowledge.
In the past, books and articles were the only source of information, but now information is easily accessible with technology. Some people may think that math or science are the subjects that deserve the most technology because they are the most important, but in actuality Language Arts is the most important subject. Language Arts is how we communicate with the world. Language Arts is our means of relating to each other. Without being able to read or write humans would never become better people. In Language Arts, technology would allow us to do research projects and read interesting stories. We could explore new aspects of knowledge all at the touch of our fingers. My classmates and I all believe in this to our fullest extent." Kevin Jacob, Mrs. Fleetwood’s 6th Grade Language Arts Class (2017-18)
According to one student in my class, “Chromebooks provide us with a new level of learning.” Technology should be part of our everyday lives, but technology should especially be a part of our learning.
