Our wonderful school has 700 middle school students. We have a long history of excellence. Our staff is dedicated to creating a learning environment that is challenging, yet balanced with the commitment to encourage every student to develop to his or her potential. I am one of the special education teachers and currently work with 76 hardworking students.
My students and I are a family.
Together we work to overcome learning challenges and focus on our abilities everyday! Student in my classroom are at least 4 grade levels below their current grade. Some have Autism, speech language disabilities, specific learning distinction reading, writing and math, emotional disabilities, or other health impairments. My students are active participants in their learning. They get discouraged sometimes but give their best efforts daily. With technology tools, learning becomes more engaging and fun!
My Project
My students are working on reading articles and writing reports. Researching needs to be done on computers using the Internet. With two Chromebooks, my students will be able to research articles of interest and use technology, such as Google Docs, to write reports.
Technology is a game changer for my students with learning challenges.
Utilizing free extensions, my students will have access to editing tools, speech to text and word prediction. My students will be able to become masters of technology and develop skills that will last them throughout their education and beyond.
