Technology Tools For The Teacher!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade in a low income school. This is my third year teaching. I will be attending a literacy conference this spring, but we do not have the funds to purchase technology to fully implement the program.

I am requesting an iPad for me to use during the Reggie Routman training I am attending this spring.

The iPad will be used to work with apps we will learn about in our professional development for literacy. During our Professional Learning Community, the teacher's aid and I will be able to work together to review data, plan for interventions, and create learning activities for students. I am requesting the keyboard and case to maximize efficiency when I am maintaining records with the CAFE conferring format that I will learn about. With the use of the tripod and microphone, I will be able to keep records of student reading samples for RTI process I will learn about with Reggie Routman. The mirroring device will allow me to project my iPad screen on a projector to share information and activities with other staff at meetings.

My Project

With the implementation of the common core, there is a huge emphasize on incorporating technology into the classroom. Students and teachers must both be using this technology. School districts often times, fund the basic needs without thinking of future learning or the bigger picture. Teachers must become familiar with and ready to use technology within the classrooms so students can see this modeled and begin a technological journey of their own. Students with technology in their hands has a much greater potential for learning than what we are currently trying. In order for students to be comfortable with technology they need to taught from a teacher who is knowledgeable and technology literate. Without tools, I simply lack the ability to put those components into place. I am requesting that you help me acquire the tools to help my students become educated with technology and make my job more efficient.

The completion of this project will allow me to review student data quickly, which decreases the amount of time needed to plan and work on interventions.

Students will get more focused instruction because I will be able to efficiently maintain a data collection and identify their needs accurately after I attend the training this spring.
