Middle school science is an opportunity for students to explore, experiment, create, dream and question. My goal for students is to get excited about the future of science and to better understand how science impacts not only their lives but the world around them. The foundation of individual investigations and experimentation begins in these years of learning. They are trying to make sense of their world, making them curious and thoughtful. Middle school students are learning about who they are and the impact they make in the world. Their unique personalities and academic abilities are developing, and their need for independence is growing. I want to support their curiosity, help them gain knowledge and promote innovation.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks with Management Consoles. Students will use the Chromebooks and Google Applications for research and enrichment. I have an average of 36 students per class, and the Chromebooks will be used for group work, differentiated instruction activities and station work. Having access to online resources and collaboration applications within the classroom will allow students to learn seamlessly in groups or individually. Classroom and textbook instruction doesn't have to be put on hold for research and project creation. I can reinforce the study and work skills needed for the ongoing academic success of my students. These tools also support the inclusion of all students and interventions by reteaching content and preparing for online assessments. The technology allows our classroom to be a true learning environment with the access to support current curriculum standards. These are skills that will be the foundation of their academic success and lifelong learning. Integrated technology in the classroom gives me the tools to align our learning environment to Common Core initiatives and the Next Generation Science Standards.
