Do you remember what it was like to be curious about everything around you? My students have many questions about the world around them. As students work to investigate their questions they have found that we often do not have access to all of the resources that students are craving.
My class is made up of a diverse group of 2nd and 3rd graders.
The students in my class are excited about learning and discovering new things, and they all come to school with varying interests and knowledge about the world that they live in. My goal is for them to expand their love of learning to new topics and subject areas while also meeting our state standards and learning targets.
My Project
I am requesting one tablet computer and a set of headphones. One of the literacy learning targets that my students are working towards is being able to find information in electronic texts. This is especially difficult for students if they do not have reliable access to a variety of electronic text. I hope that by adding a tablet computer to our classroom students will be able to practice and meet this literacy learning target while also exploring different topics of interest. While I envision our tablet being used mostly for research I also look forward to being able to give students more access to on-line literacy and math tools. These on-line tools will allow for more individualized practice.
It is becoming increasingly important that students are comfortable navigating electronic information.
I hope that by using a tablet computer in our classroom students will become more literate in technology and will also be more engaged in reading, researching, and recording information.
