Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students come from families that are socioeconomically low. Their parents work long hours and have minimal time to bond with their children, to go over homework and other school work.
My students were recently affected by Hurricane Harvey and most of them lost everything they had.
Some of them were displaced and had to move to other schools. My students are enthusiastic and willing to learn. Since our school is Title I, our yearly budget does not meet the needs of all my students. They enjoy learning and as beginning readers, they need more experiences, with well organized books.
My Project
With a Portable CD Player, Hompie Upgraded Wall Mounted 5-IN-1 CD Music Player , Karaoke Wireless Microphone System, Canon Office Products PIXMA TS5020 BK Wireless color Photo Printer with Scanner & Copier, and Canon PGI-270 Pigment Black Ink Tank + Canon CLI-271 CMYK Ink Tank 4-Pack, You will provide students with the opportunity to have colorful vocabulary words using a printer and listen and follow along with stories that they love during center time and independent reading time using the cd player. Students will have the opportunity to read their favorite stories as well as preview stories that we will read in the classroom. The cd player will also allow the speach problems to have the opportunity to become exposed to stories they may not typically choose to read on their own out of fear that they will not be able to read them. Please help me instill the love of reading in my students and help them develop the confidence to become independent readers.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
