My Students
My students are amazing. They come from many different socioeconomic and familial backgrounds. Half of the students from our school are from low-income households, and most of them have never been outside of the state.
Some days I look around my classroom and think about all the hard things they have been through, and have had to deal with, throughout their lives, and it reminds me that my job matters.
My kids need a safe place, where they know they are important and that they can make a difference for good. Teaching my students valuable life lessons matters. They are the future leaders of our nation, and they deserve to be taught with the best care and resources available.
My Project
With five classes a day, and 25+ students in each class, I need a way to be able to quickly and efficiently assess my students to check for understanding.
Efficient technology is necessary to assess student understanding and comprehension.
A unique Plicker card will be assigned to each student, in each class. Using the Plicker app on the iPad, I can ask students multiple-choice quiz questions using the projector. They hold up their unique Plicker card a certain way, and I can use the iPad camera to record their answers and immediately assess info, telling me if the students are understanding the information.
Having this technology will greatly improve how I teach, assess, and reteach my high school students. Thank you!
