My students need access to an iPad in the classroom that they don't have to share with the entire school.
This project expired on December 5, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Last year I had students that could barely read and then I discovered Audible books! Students were listening while reading and were accessing grade level texts that they had never before been able to read. Students grew 2-3 years with the help of technology. It was wonderful!
I have many students who have moved here from other countries including Somalia, Ghana, Iraq, Mexico, and Turkey.
I have many of the homes of my students and all of their parents want the same for them: A good education. I want to do everything I can for my students because they work hard and all have college in mind.
With this iPad-mini (and eventually more) I can have my students access hundred of apps that help them in language development. I have had a HUGE amount of success using this type of technology by having students read along while listening to books, practice math games, take book quizzes, and take social studies quizzes. The 21st century is all about skills that employers and businesses need for the future and if my students have a high level of experience with modern technology they will be as competitive as their higher-income peers.
My students work hard, they are college bound, and they need this donation to create a modern environment for their learning that is what high-income students experience on a regular basis.
Not only that, but my students will use this technology to assist them in rapid academic growth.
