We use and rely on technology for so many different activities. It is an integral part of our daily lives. Unfortunately, this reality is not true for my computer-less classroom.
My students get really excited when they tell me about the games they enjoy playing on their Xbox, PlayStation, or even their parents' phone.
They love using the technology and are very curious about it. Additionally, our school has a diverse student population with the majority of our students being African American and Latino. Over 60% of the students attending our school qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
My Project
Tablets are portable and easy to use devices that will add lots of fun, independence, and learning to the classroom. With the Nook HD+, students will have access to countless books and Android apps. Students will be able to have access to books that are a little higher than their independent reading level and the technology will support them reading it. As well, reading and phonics games will support students as they build their skills. There are numerous apps in which each student can have a profile to meet their specific needs and that I can input words that we are working on as a class or that the student is working on individually. Additionally, the math apps will be a great support during math centers as four students can work with a partner to work on math skills, such as math facts fluency. The Nook HD+ tablets really can support students in every subject throughout the school day.
It is really unfortunate that we do not have a computer in our classroom.
Please help us build up our technology. These Nook HD+ tablets will open additional learning opportunities for my students that can build their independence.
