My students come to 1st Grade still needing reinforcement of Kindergarten and PreK skills. Having this technology would not only help them gain essential knowledge, but would also allow my advanced student to grow!
My students are eager to learn but have tough lives outside of school.
They have free/reduced lunches and most of them do not have the resources to learn at home. We started off the school year with 36 students for the first 6 weeks until we finally were able to open another classroom. However, many students have had a hard time adjusting. I teach in a Title 1 Priority School in an urban location.
My Project
My students LOVE technology! Any chance they get to learn on the computers, they love! I can also rent leap pad systems from the school but can only keep them for 2 weeks at a time. Having these tablets will make my students feel like they are playing games when they are actually learning! Isn't that amazing? I will use the tablets during centers and I have 2 students at a center at a time. This is why I need 2. I know this will be a favorite center and I also know that students will want to play on these tablets outside of centers as well!
Anything to get my students excited to learn will greatly impact their progress!
Motivation is key in my classroom and nothing is more motivating than tablet games! Sometimes my lowest students get frustrated even when they are working at their level. And my higher students can feel the same way! Having these tablets will make it easy to differentiate and make learning fun for all ability levels!
