My students need a Apple - MacBook Air to write Chinese letters to their pen pals.

As a Mandarin Chinese teacher I encourage my students to actively engage in the wider world and challenge them to think critically and act confidently. Learning a foreign language is a difficult matter for my students when they do not have the technology to do research and connect with the world.
My students are outstanding students who are enrolled in a magnet high school that has a medical infusion which introduces students to healthcare professionals and health related hands-on experiences.
My students come from one of the highest poverty cities in the state of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents have difficulty providing them with the basis necessities; therefore, many of my students lack the technological tools to complete assignments. Most of my students have very few opportunities to travel to different places and experience worldly cultures. My students are intrigued by the Chinese culture and eager to learn the language.
My students will have a reliable computer (Apple - MacBook Air) to do research on different aspects of the Chinese culture. My students would learn how to input Chinese characters into the computer by typing in pinyin. They would have the technology to write and print out Chinese essays. They would be able to create innovative Power point slides to share different aspects of the Chinese culture that they have researched. Students would not have worry about not being able to print beautiful pictures of China's geography, landscape, cultural activities for their projects.
Having reliable technology would assist my students with connecting the Chinese language to its culture.
Learning a foreign language would help students to appreciate and embrace in diversity. Becoming knowledgeable of world culture would better prepare students for the inevitability of globalization.
