My students need a CD player, wireless headphones with a radio frequency transmitter to allow them to listen to stories in the literacy center.

I have an amazing group of students who come from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students are of low income households and do not have books at home. School is primarily where these students receive exposure to books and listen to stories. My goal is to create a love of books for all students.
My students are an amazing group of learners who work hard and have learned to be proud of their hard work and accomplishments.
Many of the students in our school receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Other students may have been referred to our "backpack" program where they are sent home with food on Fridays so that they will have food over the weekend. Our school includes a very diverse population of families but most are low income. Our community works hard to help students and families in need. We are a community which works together so that all students will have the best possible education to assure academic growth and success.
Our students will need a CD player, transmitter and wireless headphones in order to complete the reading assignment in the Literacy Center. Students will listen to a story, draw a picture, and write a sentence/sentences pertaining to the assigned reading strategy. This will help enhance students' imagination and creativity while completing a writing assignment.
Having this project funded will help students build literacy and listening skills.
It will also assist in building working memory and making connections about how the story relates to themselves, the world, and to other texts. Using the wireless headphones will allow students to focus on the story without distractions from other learning centers within the classroom.
