I teach three and four year olds who are from Washington DC. My students are fun, enthusiastic and inquisitive learners. They come from many different backgrounds, but they all love learning and being in school, and we work every day to create a positive, supportive learning environment where they can grow into the best version of themselves.
Every day with my students is a new adventure.
These curious, capable children are growing to be lifelong learners, and we are thankful for the support that helps to provide the resources we need.
My Project
My students are very excited about all types of technology, but the only available options in our classroom are two antiquated desktop computers with unreliable internet. Despite their love of technology, students using the computers become frustrated and give up almost immediately without gaining the rich learning experiences that technology can provide.
With an iPad in our classroom, students would be able to easily access the many research-based learning apps designed for preschoolers.
Right now, the wonderful resources that the internet provides are unavailable to my students since our computers are essentially unusable. If we were able to set up 2 iPads with headphones for our students, they would be able to practice literacy, math and problem solving skills in a number of effective ways, and gain the skills they need to be successful as they transition to Kindergarten.
