My students need these Chromebooks to allow them to continue strengthen their skills and prepare them for state assessments that HAVE to be taken online.
I have a great group of students. My students spend time with me and with another third grade teacher. Between our two classes, we have several students who come from split family homes as well as students who are in foster care or no longer live with biological parents. All of my students are super sweet and want to do anything to please us. They work hard and try their best. Giving them the opportunity to have a place to express themselves is an important part of my day.
Technology is a huge part of our day.
We spend a lot of our day working on computers. However, we are having to give up several of them to higher grades. I want to make sure all my students have the resources they need to be successful and also to enjoy learning.
So many children need different types of instruction and motivation and a chance to explore and strengthen their minds. Small group instruction is a way to meet all students' needs as well as technology. This "new" addition to education is a big but great change.
My Project
Currently, in the state of Missouri, students begin taking state assessments in 3rd grade. All state assessments must be taken online. Sadly, not all of the third grade students have access to a Chromebook. We have had to pass our Chromebooks up to older grades to accommodate all of them having technology. This creates a huge problem for my students. They do not have daily availability to a Chromebook to practice and prepare for the state assessment.
Due to the lack of technology available, several students are not getting exposed to the devices they are required to take state assessments on because we do not have enough for all students to use.
With your help, you would be giving 10 more Chromebooks to our grade where we could have students constantly using them and preparing for the future.
