My students need an iPad to use as a tool in the classroom. It will allow them to research, translate, connect to the world and to share our classroom with others.
"We're Fantastic, We're So Cool, Now You Get It, Learning is Cool!" That is a cheer created by my last group of FANTASTIC students. For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to teach 5th grade. These students are without a doubt, amazingly hard workers. No matter the circumstances or where they have migrated from, they have a smile on their face and a desire to learn.
Fifth grade is hard enough for many of my students because of their background, but it is even harder for my students learning English.
They require materials that allow them to be able to be overall stronger students. These students are full of life and promise! They just need the materials to help them be successful. I'm excited to see what they can do!
My Project
A tablet can benefit our classroom in so many ways. It would allow my students to use a variety of applications to work on skills in math, science, social studies, and reading. It would also help my ELL students translate certain materials independently using Google Translate. They would also be able to develop some of their phonics and language skills with other apps and games.
A tablet can make the extraordinary possible and bring things to life for my students.
I would love to use that tablet to allow my students the chance to experience the world through virtual reality apps or communicating with other classrooms. There are so many different apps that allow students to safely communicate and learn about places both near and far. Another reason I would love to have a classroom tablet is to allow students to film their presentations especially with the use of a green screen. The tablet will not only allow students to practice skills but work with technical skills that will benefit them in the future. By helping with this project you are going to give my class the ticket to experience much more than many have ever thought possible. Thank you for your consideration.
