My students are from low-income families that are of Hispanic and African-American descent. Most of the students speak two languages and struggle with the transitions between the languages. Some students can not afford basic school supplies, get a good night sleep, concentrate on their educational success due to home issues that some adults never have to think about.
It is my job to provide a safe and effective environment for a successful academic future.
I focus on each of my students' needs through small group and one on one work. It is my goal to keep students engaged and focused while in small groups. I have to be very creative with this due to our schools limited funding for extra materials. These materials would help my students stay focused and productive during their center time.
Technology surrounds our daily lives and we can't escape it so why not bring it into the classroom and use it to help teach students. There are numerous educational apps that can be leveled for each students independent learning. Having an Ipad in the classroom will not only help one student, but all of the students. They can work as partners or groups on different educational activities.
An Ipad will allow my students to explore and learn while providing them with the technology to support their future.
Students need to use technology daily in order to prepare for their future learning. Students will be expected to understand technology and use it freely so I need to prepare them now. An Ipad will allow my students to start this exploration and provide educational growth at the same time.
