Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of vibrant, energetic young minds. We all come from different backgrounds, but one thing we have in common is our love for the performing arts! Daily, my kiddos participate in dance or PE, and also go to theater, piano, art, music and sign language. Our school is a school of choice and on its' 2nd year of making quite the impact on the community and students. I, along with the entire school staff, am working hard to make school a fun and positive experience, where they are eager to learn and want to be here! Unfortunately, our school does not have any technology. I was blessed to have another project funded that provided 4 Kindles for my classroom. However, my goal is to have a different type of technology reach every child in my classroom at any given time. Technology is our future, right?
My Project
My students do not have the same accessibility to technology that many other youth in our society have. I am wanting to create an environment where they can safely research solutions to questions posed in the classroom, enhance their reading and math fluency and fully incorporate STEAM into my classroom.
Most of my students come from low income households and are severely below grade level upon enrolling at my school.
The technology I want to provide my students will enable them to see their future, question things, research those answers and hopefully set goals that will discontinue the trend they are currently living.
I want learning to be engaging, hands on and constantly at their finger tips. My students deserve the very best, and with your help, we can accomplish that together.
