Technology Success within the Special Education Classroom
My students need quality technology in our special education classroom to collaborate and problem solve assignments with success from their core classes.
My students have personalities as unique and exceptional as their educational needs. They are kind, compassionate, competitive and witty individuals! I teach 7th and 8th-grade students Math, Social Studies, Science and Basic Study Skills in the resource and inclusion settings.
My extraordinary students represent a diverse population within the special education and general education setting.
Numerous students are either still displaced or have recently moved back into their homes after enduring the trauma of the Flood of 2016 in our small town.
My Project
For my students, technology is essential. They thrive as engaged interactive learners via technology. As our school continues to rebuild from Louisiana's devastating flood in August 2016, the need for essential technology in the classroom must also be restored to ensure our students flourish in their educational setting.
We are requesting three Chromebooks.
Computers are vital in the special education setting as they assist students in achieving a greater understanding of classroom lessons, therefore contributing to a higher completion rate for assignments and ensuring overall student success.
In the Basic Study Skills setting, for example, all my students require the assistance of a computer for at least one of their seven subjects to collaborate and problem solve assignments. With only two computers available, my enthusiastic learners are limited in their search for knowledge as they alternate utilizing the computers, which postpones the completion of assignments in a timelier manner. More computers will allow more learners to be proactive in their educational conquests.
