This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the most lovable first graders you will ever meet! I teach in a low income, title one school in Pontiac, Michigan. Most of my students are between the ages of 6 and 7 so you know they come in daily with a million questions.I have 32 students so I do my best to answer all of them!
These lovable first graders really enjoy doing hands on technology based activities.
Unfortunately, we do not always have the materials to make these projects happen. I would like to help them improve their technology skills so that they can navigate the programs more efficiently. More practice means more growth and we have a growth mind set! I know my students will appreciate new materials because they always do... especially when they know I've gone into my own pocket to make it happen. They show me by giving me a hug or just telling me how much they enjoyed the activity. I appreciate seeing their excitement and watching them tell their parents what they did in school that day!
My Project
Many of my students have limited exposure to technology because they come from low income households. My students are expected to perform 1 1/2 years growth on the technology based standardized test that is given three times a year. This is impossible without time and materials to allow them to practice.
My students often know the answers, but struggle with manipulating a laptop.
With your generous donation they will have more hands on exposure to computers and programs that will help them be successful.I plan to use this as a workshop station as one of my rotations. They will be so grateful. I can already imagine their smiles!
