Students love to use technology while learning, however most of my students do not have technology resources outside of school. They are not able to learn to type, create a PowerPoint presentation with a group or create a writing piece and type it up and print it out to see their final draft.
My students are so bright and ready to learn.
75% of my students came into 2nd grade below grade level. It is my goal this year to use resources and opportunities my students would not get outside of school to increase my students engagement in learning and their motivation to come to school. They love to learn but have very few resources at home. My students are very active and often eager to learn. My students are most engaged when they are having fun learning.
Students faces brighten up when they get to try something new. They love to create projects on the computer, or type up their new writing piece , or research new ideas or topics. Many of them are English language learners, and English is not their first language which gives these students an additional challenge when learning. In our classroom we have 3 computers and 24 students.
My Project
With these laptops and colored printer, my students will be able to create projects and writing pieces, and see them come to life when they print them out and can hang them on our classroom wall or hang them on the wall at home.
The students will be able to create science and history research projects in groups, as well as transform their writing into a typed book.
When my students finish hand writing a writing piece and have had a peer edit their work they will be able to get on one of the computers and type their work up. They would then have the opportunity to print it out and present to the class.
Technology is a huge part of today's society and my students will get the experience with it now. Knowing how to type and how to do research will help my students later on in high school and after high school when trying to get jobs
With these resources my students will get opportunities they may never have otherwise.
They will be able to learn valuable skills that will help them grow as learners and will help them to continue their education. With access to laptops and a printer my students will love to learn and create projects and writing pieces because they now have access to a new step of learning and creating. My students will have the opportunity to learn about and use technology which successful adults use everyday.
