Help me give my students the ability to have access to technology in our classroom. We do not have any computers in our classroom and my students will benefit from using the Microsoft Surface to document their learning!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom serves students in kindergarten through third grade who have been identified as being on the autism spectrum. The school is located in a suburb of Los Angeles County and the students come from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.
The students are all working towards the same grade level standards as their peers despite the many academic, social, and behavioral challenges of autism that they experience on a daily basis.
Many of the students have limited language skills, auditory and visual processing limitations and require speech to text and text to speech technology support for reading and writing activities.
My Project
The Microsoft Surface is a computer and tablet all in one. The detachable keyboard allows for a variety of learning styles as some of my special needs students are unable to use a mouse and the touchscreen capability allows them to utilize the device. My students are 21st century learners that are comfortable using technology to access information, research, and document their thinking, ideas and learning. This Surface technology provides tools for my students with special needs to read stories and non-fiction pieces with text to speech capabilities as well as document their stories and informational writing through speech to text programs and apps.
My eager students need computers to utilize technology tools available to support and document their learning!
To prepare our students for jobs that don't even exist yet, they need to work collaboratively with the tools that they will be using in their future jobs. My students need to have access to computers to prepare them for the future as well as utilizing the features that will support their learning.
