This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an inner city public school which houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum disorders.

My classroom consists of eighteen children, two of whom are on the Autism Spectrum.

All my students are the most kind and hardworking students you will ever meet. They are so genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet!

My Project

Diverse learners need access to necessary technology as well as the internet so that they will be able to complete work that will set them up for success in the later years and beyond!

Increasing technology will make differentiation for these students much more attainable while ensuring privacy for each child.

Chromebooks have applications within them that allow students to access their educational potential. Apps such as Google Docs allow for diverse learners to use the speech to text function in order to get thoughts from their heads down on "paper," without having to worry about spelling and/or reading levels. The ability to access educational websites can help to reinforce or reteach what they have learned in class.
