My students come from low-income families. They do not have many opportunities to experience all that the world has to offer them. It is my job as their teacher to teach them reading and social studies, but also to expose them to the different things that the world has to offer them.
They need to know that there is more out there than just what is in their neighborhood.
I want them to be curious learners, always seeking new and different experiences.
My Project
Technology is the future is a cliche that we have heard for years, and yet it is the absolute truth. Technology is the future, so why not put it in the hands of the people that are also our future. I like to provide an independent and calm classroom, therefore I use lamps instead of the overhead fluorescent lights. The plugs will allow the students and myself to control the lamps from my phone or the Echo Dot, instead of having to turn them on or off depending on the amount of light needed for the current project. Speaking of the Echo Dot, there are endless uses for one in the classroom. The most important to me is that it allows students to be inquisitive and get instant feedback to their endless questions.
I also want to give them a camera to allows us to create digital content of our own to share with others.
I think this would allow the students learning to go to a whole new level if they are the ones creating content for others and therefore their knowledge of the subject would deepen.
