This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am blessed to teach a wonderful group of inner-city kids. My school is over 98 percent free/reduced price lunch. It blows my mind to see and hear of some of the situations my students go through on a daily basis. From living in the projects, shelters, or even be all out homeless.
These kids deserve the same chance to be successful as any other child at any other school.
My students, while most are eager to learn, also have many disadvantages that others do not. These kids deal with situations on a daily basis that many adults would not be able to handle. Most of them would be at school every day if it were up to them, but many times it is not. If any child deserves a little extra help, it is these guys!!!
My Project
My students will be able to access the internet as individuals.
These materials will enable my inner-city students to learn with active engagement and increased interest while advancing their skills in technology at the same time.
They will be able to complete online assignments on Achieve 3000, IXL, Imagine math, Quizzizz and Quizlets, Accelerated Reader and complete research assignments in Social Studies.
The additional Chromebooks will give me a class set for individual use. The printer and toner will be for students to create presentations with graphs charts, etc. in math and science. In reading, students will be able to do book reports and complete research projects. Most of these students do not have the ability to do this at home and tight budgets in education, do not allow for our students to print on school printers.
